PRESS STATEMENT
The Indianapolis Housing Agency (IHA) announces the upcoming opening of its Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program, Public Housing Program, and Project-Based Housing Waitlist. All three waitlists will open on Monday, November 16, 2026, at 7:00 a.m.
Applications
Applications must be submitted online through the IHA Applicant Portal at www.indyhousing.org.
Applicants must first register for an account before signing in and completing the applicable application.
NOTE: Individuals who require assistance with the online application process may contact the Indianapolis Housing Agency at 317-261-7224.
Housing Choice Voucher Program
IHA will accept applications for the Housing Choice Voucher Program through a lottery process. The application period will open on Monday, November 16, 2026, at 7:00 a.m., and close Friday, November 20, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Applications must be submitted before the closing deadline to be considered for the lottery process.
Public Housing Program
IHA will also accept applications for the following Public Housing communities:
- Concord/Eagle Creek
- John J. Barton Towers
- John J. Barton Annex
The Public Housing Waitlist will close once the established application limit has been reached. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible, as the waitlist may close at any time after opening.
Project-Based Housing
Applications will also be accepted for the following Project-Based Housing properties:
- The Martindale
- Indiana Avenue Apartments
The Project-Based Housing Waitlist will close once the established application limit has been reached. Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
Opening a waitlist does not guarantee placement or the immediate availability of housing assistance. Applicants must complete the application process and meet all applicable program eligibility requirements.
