IHA Welcomes Yvonda A. Bean as CEO
The Indianapolis Housing Agency Welcomes Yvonda A. Bean as Chief Executive Officer
The Indianapolis Housing Agency (IHA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Yvonda A. Bean as Chief Executive Officer, effective February 17, 2025.
Mrs. Bean is a highly accomplished leader in the affordable housing industry, bringing 25 years of executive experience in public housing and community development. She recently served as CEO of Columbia Housing and Cayce Housing and as president of nonprofit affiliates SC Affordable Housing Initiatives (SCAHI) and Columbia Housing & Development (CHAD). Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a trailblazing track record in resident-focused improvements, HUD compliance, and operational efficiency.
Under her leadership at Columbia Housing, the agency has undergone transformational change, including:
- Over $100 million in new construction development
- High performer designation in the Housing Choice Voucher Program
- The agency's first Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) conversion
- An employee apprenticeship program for career advancement
- Partnerships with local colleges to provide free tuition and scholarships to public housing residents
Prior to Columbia Housing, Mrs. Bean served as CEO of the Housing Authority of the City of Lafayette (LA), where she led the agency through significant financial and operational revitalization.
Mrs. Bean is also a recognized national leader in affordable housing policy and advocacy, serving in key leadership roles with the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) and other regional and state housing organizations. In recognition of her contributions, she was named NAHRO's 2023 Professional of the Year and 2024 Advocate of the Year.
She holds a Master's degree in Counseling and Psychology from Troy State University and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Augusta State University, along with multiple nationally recognized housing certifications.
