All persons applying for the Section 8
lottery should receive notification by mail
by the end of August. The independent firm
who conducted the lottery will be mailing
the notices. You will receive one of three
notices:
- Notice that you are on the waitlist
with a number from 1 to 5000;
- Notice that you are part of a
lottery pool with a number 5001 or
higher; or
- Notice that your application was
unsuccessful and not submitted for the
lottery.
Notifications are mailed to the address
listed on your initial application. After
receiving notification, if you have
experienced an address change, it must be
reported immediately to The Indianapolis
Housing Agency Section 8 Program, 1935 N.
Meridian St, Indianapolis, IN 46202. Oral
notifications of address changes will not be
accepted. Address changes must be reported
in writing.
When reporting an address change you must
include the following information at a
minimum:
- Your full name
- Your former address
- Your new address
- Your lottery number
- Your social security number
If we are unable to reach you by mail
within the designated time listed in any
correspondence to you because of an
incorrect address, outdated address, or any
other reason, your application file will be
automatically removed from the waiting list
and no further consideration will be given
to your application.
Please do not call to inquire about your
lottery position. No information will be
given to you over the phone, as you will be
officially notified by mail. The
Indianapolis Housing Agency will post the
selected lottery applicants and the number
that we are currently serving on our
website. When we are ready to serve your
number you will receive a letter informing
you what to do. A list of selected lottery
applicants will also be posted at area
libraries.
Thank you and have a great day!
