Continuing Participation
To avoid a lapse in the Housing Assistance Payment, the owner is now invited to start the recertification process.

The IHA is required by HUD to reexamine the income and composition of housing choice voucher families at least annually. The annual reexamination determines the continued eligibility of the family and establishes the housing assistance payment (HAP) to be made on behalf of the family. It also certifies the owner's continuing compliance with HQS and other program requirements.

Now, the owner may initiate the recertification process 60 to 90 days before the anniversary date of the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) contract.
